World Map - East Africa
Sig and Joy Feser have been in Arusha, Tanzania for over 15 years.
Sig has a PhD in Physics and shares our vision for using technology
in missions. The Feser's are Christian missionaries who are
involved in a variety of different projects.
Soon after Sig arrived in East Africa, he realized the the people
were crying out for literature in their own language. Sig has translated
and distributed numbers of Christian resources into the Swahili
language. When High Impact Missions found out that Sig was wasting
too much time spell-checking his translated works, we were moved
to action.
Swahili is a very unique language whose written grammar is similiar
to Finish. Unlike many western languages it does lend itself to
traditional dictionary-based spell checking algorithms. After doing
some research on the internet, we sent the Fesers their very first
Swahili spell-checker. With that tool in his hands, Sig is able to
devote more time to the translation and to the people of East Africa.
